Joe Lagor arrived at The Hill School in the fall of 1987 to serve as
the Assistant College Adviser and the Head Coach of the Boys’ Varsity
Hockey team. Throughout his tenure here, he has been involved nearly
every hockey program that the school offers.
Joe attended Lake Forest College, where he earned a B.A. in French
and played Division III hockey for four years. After teaching and
coaching at the Trinity Pawling School, he earned an M.A. from Columbia
University before making his home at The Hill. Aside from heading the
varsity program from ’87-90, Joe has served as assistant varsity coach
to John Micheletto, Tom Eccleston IV, and Matt Mulhern. He also headed
the “thirds” hockey team for a few years, and, during the early years of
coeducation, coached a co-ed team. Joe is currently in his third season
as the head coach of the Varsity B team.
Away from the rink, Coach Lagor teaches French and serves as Chairman
of the Modern Language Department and as Coordinator of the School Year
Abroad program. His other responsibilities include coaching JV golf. Mr.
Lagor lives on campus with his wife, Jennifer, and their five children.
