Boys Varsity Hockey Coach - Matt Mulhern

Coach Mulhern's extensive ice hockey experience includes a year as a
professional player team affiliated with the East Coast Hockey League
and the Chicago Blackhawks, and a year with the Charlotte (N.C.)
Checkers (2000-2001), affiliated with the East Coast Hockey League and
the New York Rangers. After suffering a career-ending knee injury,
Mulhern began his career at the Groton School, where as coach he
directed the ice hockey (1999 to 2000) with the Jackson (Miss.) Bandits,
a program, leading to the school's first post-season appearance in the
New England Tournament.
A May 1999 graduate of Boston College (Chestnut Hill, Mass.), where he
majored in human development, Mulhern was a four-year letter winner on
the ice hockey team, which was a Hockey East Championship Team and
placed in the NCAA Final Four in 1998 and 1999. In 1999 Mulhern won the
William J. Flynn Coaches Award and he was a two-time All-Norton team
selection.
Since taking the helm of the Boy’s Varsity at The Hill, the school
completed construction of a state-or-the-art hockey arena and
facilities, and the team has continued its winning tradition, with the
team improving its play and level of competition each year. He’s been
instrumental in helping HHA become a strong support organization for
Hill and Hill Hockey. Coach Mulhern is Associate Director of Admissions
and Director of Financial Aid at The Hill, and lives on campus with his
wife, Lindsay, and their three children. Lindsay teaches English and
coaches the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team.
