HHA holds first annual meeting

HHA President Rob Isham entertains the crowd at the new hockey rink luncheon

The nascent Hill Hockey Association held its first annual meeting after the alumni skate February 9, 2008, at the "Chris Bala Room" in the All-Star Café in Gilbertsville, PA . The establishment is conveniently owned by Wayne Bala, father of former Hill hockey players Chris '97 and Jeff '01.

While the Flyers fell to the Rangers 2-0, HHA President Rob Isham '70 gaveled the meeting to order while food, beverage, and hockey chatter prevailed over meaningful business of any kind.

Members in good standing who attended included: Chris Vaughan '95, Brian Laing '96, TJ Eaton '98, Stuart Seiden '98, Matt Bedwell '98, and brothers in arms, Adam Rominger '96 and Erik Rominger ’95.

Brian Laing brought his parents, Eleanor and Dick "Wildcat" Laing; sister, Christine; and main-squeeze, Meghan, all of whom substantially approved the social aspects of the gathering. They immediately were made HHA members pro tem.

Future plans and/or desires as expressed by the group:

  1. Better publicized annual alumni skate and, perhaps, a couple more skates during the year as time permits .Isham reported that Karl Miran, Athletic Director, is exploring a Hill-L'Ville match-up for next year, and Chicago will host a match-up in Lake Forest, Ill. along the lines of the popular L'Ville-Hill Golf Match (plus other boarding schools)
  2. Each year after the February skate, the annual meeting will be held over lunch
  3. A nominal dues/donation will be solicited to fund communications and the annual meeting luncheon festivities
  4. The coaching staff and/or players will be encouraged to travel to the hockey hinterlands to cultivate the Faithful.
  5. Re-offer Rink dedication/HHA jerseys.
