Hill Tops Arch Rival L'ville

Hill and Lville Face off on December 10

Hill Hockey (2-1) took on arch-rival Lawrenceville today in front of a high energy crowd at the Hall/Eccleston Arena. After a hard fought battle by both teams, Hill prevailed victorious.

Hill took control of the early play in the first period but struggled to score until 13:23 of the first period when Max Novak blistered down the right wing receiving a pass from Jake Colby as he drove past the defenseman and ripped a shot into the top right corner of the Lawrenceville net.

In the second period the Blues came out flat allowing Lawrenceville to take control of the play. Steve Messina was sensational all night but especially in the second period as he was peppered with 18 shots allowing none. Hill gained momentum midway through the second period as Brooks Potts found the back of the net assisted by Fuentes and Previtte.

The third period saw strong defensive play from both teams. Late in third period the Blues had a defensive zone breakdown where the Lawrenceville defenseman took a clean shot towards the net which was tipped over the shoulder of Messina for a goal. The Blues did not let the goal get them down and competed until the buzzer walking away with a 2-1 victory.

The Hill hopes to keep the winning streak going as they travel this weekend to compete in the Albany Academy Tournament against Winchendon, Albany Academy and a team to be determined.
