How Do Donations Support the School and Hill Hockey?

So you're a member of the HHA and you want to give but you’re not sure of how to make a donation and how we spend the funds collected. Well, here's the answer: The HHA is an unincorporated association of the Hill School. As such, we can make fully tax deductible donations to the Hill School which can be earmarked through the General Fund for the HHA and its mission of helping the Hill and its boys and girls hockey programs. Our members write “HHA” on the memo line of their checks to The Hill and the school takes it from there.

Since its inception a little over a year ago, funds have been donated by a few diehards and have been used primarily to create and maintain the IceChips website and to host our HHA meeting in conjunction with the Alumni Game. It’s been a wonderful gathering and includes the hats, t-shirts, mugs, etc. that help make the day a memorable one. Going forward, rather than just developing the organization, we hope to safeguard our donations for direct aid to the hockey programs and facilities.

As decided at our last Annual Meeting, our targets for support this year are:

• Regional Alumni Support in Introducing The Hill to Qualified Prospective Students Who Excel at Hockey.
• Development of Video Viewing of Recent Hill Boys and Girls Hockey Games through the Website Link to FastHockey™ or Other Providers.
• Sponsorship of Bantam Showcase Tournament at the Hall/Eccleston Arena and Rink.
• Continued Facilities Development.
• Supply discretionary funds for each team (ie. travel expenses, equipment needs, locker room improvements, etc.)
• Host an annual Alumni Hockey Event.
• Supply HHA pins to each graduating senior.
•  Maintain website ‘all about Hill Hockey’.

Membership in the HHA requires no mandatory donation, but everyone has been terrific in their support with both time and monies. Remember, you can check out our Membership Directory (after registering) and stay in touch with your Hill Hockey friends and the Association that way.

As you can see, our ambitions for the future at HHA are very important for Hill and Hill Hockey. Voluntary dues are $50 per year, but we welcome and encourage any amount you can give.

The fundraising for the new hockey facility at Hill was an incredible achievement. Now we push on!

From The Athletic Director

We are very happy for the support of the Hill Hockey Association. Since the very impressive rink fund-raising campaign during which George Knapp mobilized so many of you to make the Hall-Eccleston Rink a reality, our hockey supporters have built a community that enriches our program.  One great example is the revived alumni game (usually the 2^nd weekend in February).  On the ice, alumni and friends of the program show what skills they have left, revive old friendships, and make new ones. When we adjourn to a local establishment for food and drink, the camaraderie continues.

I know that the leaders of HHA will do all they can to improve the Hill Hockey experience for our current players, while at the same time enjoying and sharing the experience themselves.  Like the alumni game, HHA’s website is an opportunity to both relive the past glories of Mr. Hall and Mr. Eccleston’s program and also keep up with the team’s recent accomplishments.
